Eraserheads, Final Set.

It was supposed to be a Tali weekend trip. But on Friday 12:30AM,  I called up my friend to ask if he still had tickets to the Eraserheads Concert; part of me wanted him to say no and part of me wanted a yes. Imagine my surprise and amazement when he said "I have VIP tickets for you guys." OMG! Cancel that Tali trip, we are going to rock with the Eheads! This may be the last time we will get to see the Eraserheads play, maybe (hopefully) not forever, but surely for a long time at least.

It was a hot, sunny Saturday, and we drove down to SM Mall of Asia early, in anticipation of traffic and the lack of parking space. Sad to say, I didn't get to watch their first concert, but I knew they played really well, but a bit cold-hearted. I didn't know what to expect this time around, what I knew was that this was going to be a good concert, and the Eheads will be surrounded by people who love them and their music.

I was right, it was an awesome concert. From the very start, Ely, Raimund, Buddy, Marcus played all out. There was no tension among the 4 then-bandmates and it was evident that they enjoyed themselves as much as we did seeing them play their well-loved music. It was like a big jam session for them, their playing could be more malinis, but the crowd loved every minute of it. And just seeing them as friends who loved music was more than enough.

The crowd will request for Group Hugs, and they'd say "kayo muna" jokingly. Their hirits of "you may write down your requests and give them to the waiter" made it clear that this was a concert very much different from the first one. All four of them were given a chance at the mic, not only Ely. It was a great crowd and an even better Eraserheads production. They also paid tribute to FrancisM, singing Superproxy and Kaleidescope World. I felt that Francis M's passing away was a focal point in their turnaround. Life's too short to live in hate and bitterness.

After the 2 sets, and when they already made their Group Bow, and the crew was actually fixing up the stage, Raimund came out and raised up his arms towards the crowd, asking "Mukhang nabitin ba kami?"  It was obvious that they still wanted to play. Maybe for the last time. Together. The crowd went berserk when Ely came out, clad in a simple shirt and jeans nalang, and said "O, 3 more for the road." OMG. It was a dream come true for everyone. It wasn't part of the deal, but still they made it happen. What a night! What a concert! After all the fireworks and confetti, here was Eheads playing their last 3 songs. No BS, just great music. Definitely the best way to end the night.

ERASERHEADS, mabuhay kayo. You guys rock our world.
