Get ready for a tiring, but fun adventure when you visit
Getting there, you will have to ride a 4x4 for about an hour. Don’t forget to bring a bandanna, as this would be a dusty ride across rock and ash and water.
After which, you hike for about an hour; following a trail across rocks, water, and some greens. Be sure to be in hiking boots or sandals, this may take a toll on your ankles. At some parts, it might become a little chilly, it’s best if you bring a light jacket with you. And don’t forget to bring enough water.
As you near the end of the hike, there’s a long upward slope which brings you to one of the best views of what is yet to come when you go down the mouth of the mountain. The hike will truly be worth that view.
As you go down the mountain, hikers are allowed to take a boat ride across the lake or just lounge with friends, take a dip, eat, and rest.
After enjoying the cool lake and some R&R, you prepare for the hike and 4x4 ride back to home base. There’s a high probability that you’ll fall asleep on the 4x4, despite the rocky ride. At home base, you’ll be served with a choice between Filipino and Korean cuisine (we got the Filipino food, but frankly, it didn’t really taste so good). Shower rooms are available for use, and you may opt for a massage (P500).
Truly an awesome adventure! The Pinatubo Trek is a must-try for all those who seek a different kind of "gimmick weekend," the fun is in the discovery :)
