A visit to the Ayala Strip is certainly in order when you visit Cebu :) With sprawling greens, huge space for hanging out, and interesting restaurants, a night out in Ayala would be a great way to cap off a hectic day.
We decided to try The Gustavian. I think they have a branch here in Manila, I’m just not sure of the location (Makati, I bet). Gustavian is a mid fine-dine restaurant, offering buffet, as well as ala carte options. The basic buffet is P650 (only includes appetizers, cold cuts, salad, salmon, and dessert). A collection of wine and international beers is also available, which goes well with their food choices.
Restaurant interiors are simple but formal; a combination of wood & glass as well as dim lights characterized their formal atmosphere.
We ordered Clam Chowder Soup with Smoked Salmon Tostada, Paprika Chicken Skewer, Filet Mignon, and Guinness Beer. Complimentary bread is provided, although it was a bit plain, just butter-toasted.

However, the meal instantly became enticing when our Clam Chowder arrived. Very good presentation, and a hefty soup serving for a small price. What I particularly liked about the soup was that the seafood flavor was not overpowering, and texture was very creamy. Savor the Salmon Toast, you'll probably want another piece.

Although a bit pricey (for me), the Filet Mignon was a sumptuous sight, served with vegetables & mashed potato, plus a delectable sauce blend. I'm not really a steak-lover, but the filet mignon was surely soft to the bite and deliciously savory.

For my dish, I had a healthier alternative, and thus chose a chicken dish. The Paprika Chicken Skewer was a great choice! Battered in beer, the chicken meat was soft and flavorful. Three grilled chicken pieces on a bed of buttered vegetables with garlic potatoes on the side. Definitely a good combination. :)

The Gustavian was definitely a great food find. Fine, fine food at affordable prices. Now, I just have to look for its Manila branch :)
