Leona Art Restaurant

We've been passing by Leona Art Restaurant for the longest time now (just along White Plains), and we've always been intrigued by the then-furniture-shop-turned-restaurant. It wasn't until last weekend, when we finally decided to stop by and have a look-see at the place.

Leona has a carefree, definitely laid back ambiance. I was expecting more artsy stuff, since it was an "art" restaurant to begin with, but I guess their art was translated more on old pieces of furniture and wooden pieces, rather than paintings or sculptures. I liked their spill over area, a door on the right side of the place leads you to a slightly open-air, screened area, which for me was a great place to hang out with and have good conversation with friends.

The food served is definitely home-made. And you have to wait awhile since they only prepare meals once ordered. We ordered the Cilantro Soup, Cucumber & Crab Salad, and Sausage & Mushroom Pizza :)

The Cilantro Soup was quite spicy and had a strong Wansoy flavor.. good for that specific rainy, dinner night. We liked the Crab and Cucumber Salad, though we feel that the onions they used had an overpowering taste. Reminder for us next time: specifically ask for the salad without onions. Other than that, the salad was good, and the serving was more than adequate.

What we liked the most, though, would be the Mushroom & Sausage Pizza. Obviously home-made, you can taste that the cheese they used was just ordinary; however, mixed with the sausage and mushroom, it works quite well. Plus, their crust was just the right thin-ness and they had a healthy serving of toppings.. certainly a good choice for us :)
