Chihuahua Mexican Grill

Chihuahua offers a pretty simple, straight to the point Mexican menu: Choose a base - Taco (3 pcs), Burrito, or Burrito Bowl. Choose your meat (Steak, Chicken, Beef, etc). Then voila, you're done! All the base dishes start at P345, and you have to add a bit more to get Steak, but the other meat options are already included in the price.
A couple more add-ons are available if you still want - Nachos, Tortilla Soup, etc., plus Drinks.

Interiors

The interiors reflect a modern, Mexican vibe, but I didn't like that it created a reddish hue for the food pics, haha :)

We just shared a bowl of nachos and Chicken/Beef Tacos. Basically, we liked it. I liked that the portions were not too heavy, but a main and an add-on can already be good enough for two. We also got a spoonful of the Beef Burrito Bowl (deconstructed burrito in a metal bowl), which was also pretty good. Too bad the famous Tortilla Soup was all out, we heard it was the bomb :)

An improvement can be made on the food presentation though. I understand the metal bowls are operationally easier to clean and stack and in in-sync with their modern Mexican vibe, but it's not really fun eating off it. A friend even said it reminds her of a dog dish; which isn't good at all. Maybe they need to try other bowls - colorful ceramic bowls may be an option :)

Ristras

Yes, I know. I'm pretty behind on the Mexican food department. Not to say that I dislike Mexican food and spice, but I admit I've been held up by Mexicali for the longest time. So now, as an alternative, I was finally able to try Ristras. I've been hearing quite a lot of good things from this restaurant and I was eager to try it out and satisfy my Mex craving.

We ordered Grilled Chicken Burrito and Vegetable Quesadilla. I watched the server make the burrito and was amazed at the mass of ingredients they can actually fit in the burrito. I knew then that what we ordered would mean no dessert (since we'll already be too full). I eagerly waited on our table for the upcoming feast.

The burrito was HUGE and I was glad we had it halved. Surely, they didn't scrimp on the  ingredients used in the burrito. I liked the texture, but the flavors didn't really wow my palate. I found it a bit bland to my taste; plus the spicy tomato sauce serving was so tiny compared to the huge burrito! Quite troublesome to keep asking for more. The Vegetable Quesadilla was likewise a hefty serving. It was okay; but again, the flavor failed to capture the taste I was looking for.

Remind me not to order too much.. I felt really full after our meal! But for now, it's still Mexicali for me :)
