Chuck's Grub Fish & Chips

Tried this new Resto at Megamall which specializes on Fish n Chips. It was lunch time on a Sunday and there was a bit of a crowd; but we did get seats :) The store's pretty small, although the tables spilled over to the mall hallway. Interiors reflected a London vibe, with a huge map of the Underground on the wall, as well as some notable landmarks in London.

Here's the Menu (they serve beer):

Service wasn't the best. I could see that the other diners had to follow up their orders about 2-3 times. When I ordered, they did tell me that I may be served in about 20 minutes; it was good they warned me in advance. I ordered the Grub Up Beer Battered Dory & Chips, which consisted of 4 large pieces of fish, chips, fries, and 2 dips. Rob ordered a Dory Fish Sub.

Food presentation was pretty interesting, I liked the use of a paper cone on a metal standee. I found the food itself just okay, I was looking for a bit more zest, I was expecting that even if they used a bland dory, that the mix would give it a more full flavor. I had the Garlic Mayo and Spicy Ranch dips; it did add a bit of taste. Rob's Fish Sub was pretty much the same, but I think they used tartar sauce and the bread helped in managing the oily deep-fried dish.

All in all, it was an okay first try in Chuck's Grub, but it'll probably take me awhile to give it a second shot.
