MAPLE is found at the ground floor of the new wing at Shangri-La mall; Rob and I tried it out for dinner after an early movie night :) I really love the restaurant ambiance and interiors, clean and crisp. Their placemats are also not the usual rectangular shaped ones, but instead shaped as a maple leaf, which adds to the whole feel of the place.
I really love this lighted wall silouhette, and I love the fact that they have a kids' area with books and toys to keep children occupied while the adults eat.
We ordered breakfast for dinner. Although they also offered a lot of other dishes (pasta & entrees), we stuck with the all-day breakfast options. It was Banana Pecan pancakes for me and the Mexican breakfast Huevos Rancheros for Rob.
Drinks first. The MAPLE Iced Tea tasted good although a bit too sweet for me; at least it didn't taste like powdered iced tea. Fresh apples were used for the smoothie, and they really didn't overdo the milk or sugar, so you get the real, raw apple taste.
I was kinda disappointed with the pancakes. I was expecting good consistency and texture, but found the pancakes too soft and quite crumbly. The flambeed bananas combined with the maple-glazed pecans were good, but I found both servings a bit sparse for 3 huge pancakes. Because of this, however, the dish didn't come off as too sweet (unless of course you drown it with maple syrup). Rob's Huevos Rancheros had good Mexican flavor -- a mix of refried beans, tortillas, grilled chicken, plus that cheese and ranchero sauce was a good combination, light yet tasty.

Although MAPLE might not be the best option for pancakes, it does present some other interesting dish options that might warrant another visit -- that Prime Rib Tapa will probably be a part of our meal next time.
