My first time at
Mamou was unplanned. Rob and I were just catching a late movie at Rockwell and decided to go for a bite to eat. We made a conscious effort to look for a nice place to have dinner at, and chanced upon Mamou :)
The place was packed, but we were lucky to get a seat (since the movie was in an hour). The restaurant looked nice, both inside and outside :) I was also happy with the quick and attentive service, which is always a plus in any restaurant :)

Complimentary bread and butter was served to start off our meal :) Athough we were in a Steak place, we ordered different kinds of food, haha! Well, we did have to be quick :P Went for Palm Spring Rolls for appetizer, which was really yummy, quite a spicy blend of coconut palm and ground pork with vinaigrette or chili :) For mains, got myself a Roast Beef Sandwich while Rob got BBC or a Beer-Battered Chicken with Red Parsley Rice. The roast beef was well-seasoned and flavorful; and I appreciated the choice of bread (white or whole wheat). It also came with a large serving of fries on the side! The beer-battered fried chicken was also good - the chicken meat was real juicy, plus you can actually taste the beer, without it overpowering the chicken flavor. I was also happy that they offered red rice; few restaurants do :)

All in all, we had a great dinner (although we didn't have enough time for dessert). I better get myself to Mamou again to try out the steaks! And their brunch menu looks really good too :)
